The MCAI staff is committed to meeting the needs of all members and we consider ourselves an extension of your management team. In addition to the MCAI staff, members also have access to the expertise of several industry experts through their affiliation with the Mechanical Contractors Association of America.

  • Scot Stoltenberg joined the Mechanical Contractors Association of Iowa in January 2000 as Director of Safety & Training, and became the Executive Vice President in September 2014.  He previously worked for the Agribusiness Association of Iowa as a Regulatory Technical Specialist.  Scot received his B.S. degree in Industrial Technology – Occupational Safety from Iowa State University in 1998.  From 2000 to 2014, Scot managed and conducted all safety training and consultation offered by the MCA of Iowa.  He has been a member of the MCAA Health & Safety Committee since 2007, and is an active member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, National Safety Council and Iowa-Illinois Safety Council. Scot serves as a management trustee on the UA Local 125 JATC, along with the UA Local 125 Health & Welfare, Pension, and Vacation Funds.  In his time with the MCA of Iowa, Scot has led the development of two industry-leading services – SDS BinderWorks (www.sdsbinderworks.com), a web-based Safety Data Sheet management service, and the Training Vault (www.trainingvault.com), a web-based training, licensing and certification tracking system that is actively used by UA Local 33 and UA Local 125, along with the Iowa Chapters of SMACNA and NECA, and the Master Builders of Iowa.

  • Jennifer Adkins joined the MCAI in August 1999. She previously worked as a legal assistant for the Barrick Law Firm. Jennifer graduated with a business degree from Hamilton Business College in 1991. Jennifer is responsible for all administrative, bookkeeping and event planning duties. She is the primary contact when you call the MCAI office.

  • Meghan Winger joined the MCAI in September 2014 as Member Services Assistant. In December 2016 she was promoted to Director of Online Services.  She previously worked as a data coordinator within the Cost Management and Supply Base Management department for the John Deere Engine Works in Waterloo, IA. Meghan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2009. Meghan’s main responsibilities include overseeing the development, maintenance and day-to-day operations of the MCAI's web-based member services, including SDS BinderWorks, Training Vault and the MCAI Website.

  • Brian Johnson started providing lobbying services for the MCAI in 2004. Previously, Brian directed government relations for a public utility in Iowa, overseeing policy and budgets, operations and guiding legislative strategy. Brian is a respected professional advocate with more than 25 years of lobbying and public affairs experience at the local, state and federal levels. He has successfully assisted the MCAI with passing landmark legislation benefitting the mechanical construction industry.

  • Walter Sperko is the Technical Consultant to the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau and a member of the Engineering Committee of the Pipe Fabrication Institute. He provides engineering consulting services to customers in the metal fabrication industries in the technical areas of welding, metallurgy, manufacturing processes, piping and pressure vessel design, inspection and quality assurance. Sperko Engineering also prepares and conducts training programs in piping, welding and metallurgy for ASME, as well as custom-tailored programs related piping and welding. Mr. Sperko holds five patents and serves on various ASME Code committees.
