Get settled into your room, and then catch the MCAI shuttle to nearby Char Bar Restaurant for an evening of barbecue, beverages, fellowship and live music. We have the entire restaurant reserved for our group, including their 10,000 square feet Beer Garden with backyard amusements (lawn croquet, bocce ball, ping pong and bags). The Michael Beers Band will begin at 7:00 p.m. Play unlimited games, dance to the band, socialize and enjoy the music! This will be a relaxed, casual event for everyone to get reacquainted. Shuttle busses will run continuously between the The Fontaine and Char Bar beginning at 5:45 p.m.

The Michael Beers Band is a Kansas City tradition everyone should experience. A top event and wedding band for many years, this talented quartet will fill a room with excitement and fun as it plays both great listening music and the absolute best dance and party music of all time. With a female vocalist that will dazzle all, and skillful players and singers at each instrument, the Michael Beers Band has never met a dance floor it didn’t love! Pack your dancing shoes, bring your fun and come let Michael and his crew take you on a dancing and singing journey you will never forget.

MCAI Annual Business Meeting

The MCAI Annual Business Meeting is for all members. The meeting reviews Association activities over the past year and previews activities and resources planned for the coming year.


MCAI has conducted an analysis of its existing Bylaws which were last amended on May 29, 1997. In the interest of bringing the Bylaws up to date and removing any untimely provisions, various amendments have been proposed thereto by a select group of members. A copy of the proposed Amended and Restated Bylaws, as well as a comparison specifically showing all of the proposed changes, can be found at the following links:

The proposed Amended and Restated Bylaws will be submitted for vote at the MCAI Annual Business Meeting on June 23, 2017 at The Fontaine in Kansas City, MO. Please review the same before the meeting.

SPX Research and Development Center

Tour of SPX Research and Development Center

Join us for a tour of the SPX Research and Development Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The R&D center is housed in what was originally a limestone cave, offering year round conditions for thermal testing. It has been the hub for Marley tower and component development since the 1950s. At the R&D Center, you will see how SPX engineers and designs components specifically for the challenging conditions typical in cooling tower operation. Performance, thermal and sound testing will also be covered.

SPX Cooling Technologies, Inc. manufactures Marley® cooling towers, evaporative fluid coolers, evaporative condensers and air cooled heat exchangers. For nearly a century, the Marley brand has been synonymous with high-quality equipment and service for HVAC, industrial, power and refrigeration customers. SPX Cooling Technologies is represented in Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and South Dakota by DPT Mechanical.

Join us for lunch and a Keynote presentation from Dr. Jack Schafer. Jack is the author of “The Like Switch.” His book shows you how to read others and get people to like you for a moment or a lifetime. Whether you wish to be better at sales, reading a room or recruiting Soviet spies, Jack outlines the skills necessary to make you a better communicator at all levels.

John R. “Jack” Schafer, PhD, is a psychologist, professor, intelligence consultant, and former FBI Special Agent. Dr. Schafer spent 15 years conducting counter-intelligence and counterterrorism investigations, and seven years as a behavioral analyst for the FBI’s National Security Division’s Behavioral Analysis Program. He developed spy recruitment techniques, interviewed terrorists and trained agents in the art of interrogation and persuasion. Dr. Schafer contributes online pieces for Psychology Today Magazine, has authored/ coauthored six books and has published numerous articles in professional and popular journals. He is a professor with the School of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice at Western Illinois University.

Join us for a cocktail at the 901 Bar and savor the ambiance and breathtaking views of the city. Then enjoy an exceptional meal of modern Mediterranean-inspired cuisine set up in stations throughout 901 and get ready for an exciting evening of entertainment by Quixotic.

Based in Kansas City, Quixotic was given Silicon Valley’s unofficial stamp of genius when they were invited to perform at the global TED Conference in 2012. A unique blend of projection mapping, artistic dance, aerialists, musicians and specialty acts, Quixotic fuses all these elements in to what the New York Times branded an “innovative circus ensemble,” and Men’s Journal declared “one of the best contemporary cirque acts.” They have performed for audiences worldwide and have helped launch brand products for companies such as IBM, HP, Smithsonian, Emirates Airlines and Bulgari.
