The MCA of America is recognized as the “Education Association” and the MCA of Iowa enthusiastically supports their national educational programs. Additionally, through member input, the MCAI identifies key training needs in the industry and either develops custom programs or locates established programs to offer to the industry.

Success Through Safety, an annual MCAI Safety Committee sponsored seminar covering a variety of safety topics affecting contractors.

MCAI Annual Business Meeting offers seminars on a variety relevant issues impacting contractors.

Advanced Leadership Institute (ALI) offers a dynamic, custom-developed program for our industry’s current and future business leaders.

Institute for Project Management (IPM) covers advanced project management theories and techniques that give your company the competitive edge in today’s fast-changing marketplace.

Advanced Institute for Project Management (AIPM) offers five days of intensive, advanced level study designed to make even the most experienced project managers more productive and their jobs more profitable.

National Education Initiative (NEI) brings project profitability project management, design-build, and advanced supervisory education to a location near you.

MCAA Annual Convention offers a forum combining professional development and networking in an extraordinary setting.

Strategic Estimating Conference is geared toward estimators and other project personnel with at least two years of experience who want to learn to plan for profitability, and sell a client on value, not price.

Pre-Fabrication Seminar offers the opportunity to explore various facets of prefabrication and to discover whether a prefabrication operation can help your company prosper.

Annual Educational Conference of the Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) offers sessions focused on solving everyday business challenges.

Industry Funds Conference addresses issues and topics to help trustees and association executives manage the challenges and opportunities associated with industry improvement funds.

Targeted education for service contractors is provided through MSCA, including the Service Managers Training Program (providing management and leadership skills training); Dispatcher Training Program (for improved dispatcher job performance); Service Seminar Series (offering a variety of seminars on the local level); and Selling Skills Training Program for the HVAC Industry (aimed at improving the consultative selling skills of service sales personnel).

Labor Relations Conference provides local labor and management industry leaders with the opportunity to forge successful bargaining approaches and enhance market performance. This is the leading joint labor/management cooperative forum in the industry.

National Issues Conference provides an opportunity for MCAA contractors to advance their business and industry interests directly with lawmakers on Capitol Hill through the ongoing Campaign for Quality Construction.

Collective Bargaining Seminar offers management bargaining representatives the opportunity to hone their skills and resources to make sure local agreements advance their competitive position and meet local market requirements.

Estimating Essentials provides individuals new to estimating, field personnel and estimators an opportunity to improve their skills.

Student Chapter Summit offers students two days of great exposure to the mechanical construction, plumbing, and service industries.

Project Manager/Foreman Seminar Series, MCAI is currently developing a project manager/foreman training program to be offered in 2012. More details to follow.

Joint Labor/Management Education Programs

Apprentice Training
MCAI contractors and our union partners provide a 5-year, state-of-the-art apprentice training program involving both classroom courses and on-the-job experience. See our Careers section for more information.

Technical Training for Field Employees
Technical training for field employees is primarily provided through the respective Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees at the union training centers.  This training ensures that our field workforce is routinely offered opportunities to improve their skills and remain current with new technologies. It also provides field employees the opportunity to earn continuing education credits to meet licensing requirements. See our Event Calendar for upcoming training opportunities.
